Milk Protein Allergy

By Addison adam at 2011-02-21 22:38:04

CMPI is often mis-diagnosed initially in a baby as colic. With time and observation though, often the doctor eventually realizes CMPI is the reason instead. CMPI does not involve the immune system. Because of this, there is no definitive test a doctor can run to determine the possible reason for the baby's unrest.CMPI symptoms usually originate from 1 hour to 24 hours after the baby ingests the offending milk protein. Normal symptoms include a continuous crying and uncomfortable baby. Stomach cramps, diarrhea, gas and bloating become unbearable for the child. Noticeable hives or a skin rash is also symbolic of this illness.

Milk allergy refers towards the adverse reactions that involve one or far more proteins of milk, whether belonging towards the whey protein or casein group. Milk allergy is one of probably the most popular issues in kids, affecting over 3% of infants, due to the fact cow's milk is usually the initial substance a baby encounters. Nevertheless, this condition develops into other allergy troubles from other protein sources when the baby grows up.

Apart from the fact it most likely contains chemicals, growth hormones, allergenic proteins, antibiotics, bacteria, viruses, pus and blood, the casein content is considerably higher than that of human milk. After all, a calf will grow to roughly 1000 lbs in 2 years compared to 40 lbs for a human infant.

Mothers pass along cow's milk proteins to their kids through breastfeeding. Thus, it would be more appropriate to say that it is not the mother's milk that incur reaction, but the proteins that are mixed through the mom's milk, which is attributed to the mother's diet.In some cases, some infants develop immunity to cow's milk allergy during their breastfeeding years, but surprisingly develop cow's milk allergy when they stop taking in mom's milk for formula milk.

Allergic disorder from milk products mainly affects the infants and the children as compared to the adults but it can affect the person at any age. The hypersensitivity to milk increases and the immune system does not permit the body to drink milk This over sensitivity increases gradually and after some time the child stops drinking milk and deprives the body from essential nutrients present in the milk.

When milk is pasteurized, the natural enzymes present in raw milk are destroyed. Without these enzymes, milk cannot be properly digested. One of the most important enzymes in milk is lipase, which is there to break down fat. Pasteurized milk no longer has this enzyme and this makes it impossible for the body to digest it properly. As a result, undigested milk particles can end up in the bloodstream causing havoc to the immune system and resulting in a confusing array of allergy reactions.

Children with lactose intolerance are deficient in lactase, an enzyme produced internally to break down lactose. This can result in stomache aches, gas and diarrhea. However children allergic to milk have reactions to some or all of the proteins: casein, whey, and lactalbumin. The adverse effects can cause gastric problems as well as skin issues such as rash, and eczema, and nasal distress such as runny nose and congestion.

People who have milk allergies should really pay good attention to what they are eating because a lot of foods nowadays are made up of milk and other milk products. A milk allergy is different from lactose intolerance and without extra caution, a milk allergy may turn into a severe illness due to direct contact with foods that cause it.A person who has a milk allergy reacts to the proteins in the milk. The substance known as Curd which forms the chunks that can be observed in sour milk contains 80% of the milk's proteins while Whey which is the watery part holds 20% of the milk's content.
